Flooring plays an important role in home decor. While many people prefer classic wooden or parquet flooring, others are wary and look for alternatives that deliver the same results.

The newest alternative to parquet is ceramic parquet. To help you make the right decision, in this article we’ll walk you through the advantages and disadvantages of parquet, and whether replacing it with ceramic parquet flooring could address these concerns.

Parquet features

Parquet is a set of wooden rectangles characterized by their hardness and durability, conferring a sense of luxury and greater value to your home, both in terms of appearance and price should you decide to sell. Therefore, it is a top choice for a large segment of people and apartment finishing companies alike.

Parquet is also suitable for all decor colors and various types of furniture, making it a true addition to home decor.

Disadvantages of parquet

Despite its advantages, parquet is ultimately a type of wood flooring, and it suffers from the same drawbacks as other wood flooring. The most prominent disadvantages of parquet are:

  • Parquet flooring is expensive to purchase and install. It can lose its luster or become damaged over the years due to scratches, heat, or cold. Maintenance or refinishing is then required, costing you even more money.
  • Parquet flooring produces annoying noises, making it unsuitable for children’s rooms or places where patients are housed. It may also be installed incorrectly, causing further disturbance.
  • Parquet also requires regular cleaning, as dust and dirt can attract insects, and because dust is difficult to control, constant cleaning can become exhausting over time.
  • Also, if water spills, it may collect under the parquet, which may cause mold or corrosion.

A recently emerging alternative to parquet is ceramic parquet flooring, which is a rough ceramic flooring that looks similar to parquet.

Unlike parquet, ceramic parquet flooring comes in a variety of colors, not limited to classic wood tones. Other colors, such as white and gray, are also available, making it more suitable for home decor.

Ceramic parquet also doesn’t produce the same annoying sounds as parquet, making it suitable for children’s rooms. Furthermore, it’s not as expensive as parquet.

Ceramic parquet floors are not affected by water and temperatures like real parquet, making them longer lasting and easy to maintain and clean.

The only drawbacks of ceramic parquet flooring are the presence of gaps between its parts, making it less visible than original parquet flooring. Additionally, its rough texture makes it more susceptible to dust accumulation.
