Reasons to choose sustainable building materials

Have you ever wondered about the true definition of sustainability? Well, the answer is easy. Sustainability refers to something that does not run out even with continued consumption and will last for future generations.

With this definition in mind, we will tell you 5 reasons why you should choose to build your home from sustainable building materials, but before that, let us tell you what they are.

What are the building materials of green architecture?

It is a building structure that is mostly made up of renewable resources and environmentally friendly green materials.

The most important types are:

Straw bales : Used as a framing material, it provides sound and heat insulation. One of its most important properties is that it does not allow air to pass through, making it fire-resistant. It is also used in walls and ceilings to cool homes in the summer and maintain a warm temperature in the winter.

Cork : One of the most important features of cork is that it can be harvested from a living tree that continues to grow and reproduce. Cork is characterized by its extreme flexibility, resistance to corrosion, and ability to withstand extreme pressure.

One of its most important features is its ability to absorb noise, making it one of the best types of insulators against sound, vibration, shock, and heat. It also does not absorb water and therefore does not rot.

Bamboo : It is considered one of the best environmentally friendly materials, as it has a very high rate of self-regeneration. It is also stronger than concrete and bricks combined, and its strength lasts incredibly long periods.

Polyurethane : Also known as solid plant-based polyurethane foam, it has long been used in America as an insulating and reinforcing material. It provides the home with insulation against mold and pests, and is heat and sound resistant as well.

Criteria for selecting sustainable building materials

1- Testing materials that produce few harmful emissions.

2- Use recyclable materials from demolished places.

3- Ensure the efficiency, strength and solidity of the source.

Reasons to choose sustainable building materials

1- A home that lasts a lifetime: Just as in the definition, building your home from sustainable materials enables you to maintain and renew it constantly with building materials that never run out and never expire.

2- They do not emit harmful emissions: Many of the materials used in construction today react with the sun and air, causing many harmful emissions to humans and the environment alike. Green houses, however, are healthy as they do not emit toxins or carcinogenic organic compounds.

3- Sustainable materials are stronger and more durable than other materials, as they have the ability to absorb earthquake tremors.
